Born and raised in Kentucky, Stephanie was bit by the acting bug during college while studying to obtain her degree in Advertising. Although she completed her studies in Advertising, Stephanie knew that her heart lied with acting so she quickly packed her bags and moved to New York.
Upon her arrival, Stephanie immediately enrolled in classes. Just months later, she earned her first New York acting job in the Off-Off Broadway play, “The Engagement”, in which she originated the role of Nicole James, a spoiled but accomplished young woman who tries to sabotage the wedding of her best friend out of fear of being alone. While starring in “The Engagement”, Stephanie also earned her first lead role in the feature film, “Back Stab”, (directed by Ricardo Thompson), which made it’s world premier in the 2007 Urbanworld Film Festival. In the film, Stephanie plays the role of Keisha, a troubled young woman who made a living robbing drug dealers, determined to avenge her sister’s death after a robbery gone wrong. These two roles displayed Stephanie’s ability to be versatile and take on the challenges of complex characters.
Some of Stephanie’s other credits include the short film, “The Schedule”, directed by John Liang, which is currently making festival rounds, and “The Oreo Cookie”, directed by Leiba Young.
Even though Stephanie was quickly building her resume on-stage and on-camera, she still felt there was so much more growing for her to do as an actor. This led her to enroll in the two-year acting program at the prestigious William Esper Studio, where she recently completed her studies in the Meisner Technique.
One of Stephanie’s goals is to go back to her hometown and start a performing arts program for students K-12. “I come from a small town where I never even knew that pursuing a career as an actor was possible because I didn’t have those opportunities available to me. This career has taught me so much discipline and perseverance and those are qualities, that when developed at an early age, can lead to so many amazing possibilities”.
Stephanie can currently be seen in commercials for Dr. Miracle Hair Care & Skin Care products, as well as starring in the new web series, “On The Stoop”, which was created and written by Stephanie herself.
